Not matter what brand of heater you have, understanding error codes will help ensure you can keep your heater working when you need it. This guide is designed to give you the knowledge required to self-help when you get error codes.

Note: A fuse pull of 15+ seconds(remove power) is required to clear error codes as a safety feature. Errors cannot be cleared from the thermostat controller or phone app.

Velit Heater Error Codes

Error 01 - Ignition Failure

Error 1 is an ignition failure, meaning the heater failed to ignite upon startup and is likely due to fuel delivery.

Note that new heater installs may require a few start attempts for fuel to reach the heater and Error 01's are normal and expected upon initial startup after fresh install. If you use the prime function be VERY CAREFUL not to flood the heater, watch fuel progress in the fuel lines and press to stop prime when fuel reaches heater.

Check the following

  1. Fan is blowing
  2. Glow plug heats up and draws more than 7A
  3. Pump clicks and fuel flows without too much bubbles

Do not use the prime function to push out air bubbles, you will flood the heater. Rather address the source of the bubbles or let the heater work them out through normal operation.

Error 02 - Combustion Interruption

Error 02 means that combustion was happening and then for some reason the flame went out. The heater will typically try to restart itself 1 time before throwing the E02 code.

Error 02 codes typically do not indicate an issue with your heater assembly components; rather, it's almost always related to fuel supply/delivery. Check your fuel lines and ensure they are within spec.

Make sure the pump clicks and fuel flows without too many bubbles in the fuel line.

Typical causes:

  1. Air leaks in fuel line
  2. Air bubbles in fuel line
  3. Improper fuel tank standpipe
  4. Missing combustion air intake hose
  5. Improper fuel line routing and angles

Error 03 - Power Supply Voltage

Check the terminal voltage where the heater connects to during starting. Voltage should be always higher than 11V.
Increase the wiring gauge if you extended the wiring.
Common issue if you power the heater from a cigarette lighter socket.

Error 04 - Heat Exchanger Overheat

If it happens after running for a while, make sure the indoor intake and hot air outlet are free of obstruction.
If it happens at starting, reseat the blue plug on the ECU. Likely to be caused by interference if happens on a brand new unit.

Error 05 - Ignition Sensor

If it happens after running for a while, make sure the indoor intake and hot air outlet are free of obstruction.
If it happens at starting, reseat the green plug on the ECU. Likely to be caused by electrical interference if on a brand new unit.

Error 06 - Outlet Tempurature Sensor

If it happens after running for a while, make sure the indoor intake and hot air outlet are free of obstruction.
If it happens at starting, reseat the blue plug on the ECU. Likely to be caused by electrical interference if it happens on a brand new unit.

Error 07 - Fuel Pump

This does not necessarily mean you have a bad fuel pump, and we rarely see our fuel pumps go bad.

If it happens right at starting, it is likely to be a firmware or electrical interference issue.
If it happens after 30 seconds of starting, check the fuel pump wiring harness and connector. Ensure the pins on the connector look good, and the connector is snapped onto the pump until it clicks.

Error 08 - Fan Motor

Make sure the fan wheel spins freely. Remove the round plastic guard and spin the fan with your finger. There should be no noise or resistance.

If you have any noise or resistance, you can adjust the fan position on its axle by following this video: https://youtu.be/06dyRgmV_PQ

We test all our units before shipping, but it's possible the fan alignment could have shifted during shipping, and this easy adjustment resolves the issue.

Error 09 - Inlet Tempurature Sensor

Very rarely do we come across this error code. Likely ECU control board needs replacing.

Error 10 - Glow Plug

We use very high quality glow plugs and rarely see them fail. If you are getting this error it's possible your glow plug could need replacement but checking the electrical connector on the ECU would be a good place to start.

Error 11 - Environment Tempurature

The heater cannot operate below -40°C or above 40 °C

Error 12 - Elevation Too High or Too Low

We rarely if ever see this error, very uncommon as our heaters are designed to run at alititude. Triggers when lower than -100m ASL or higher than 5100 m ASL. Disregard this error.

Error Code 13 - Fan Speed Abnormal

Make sure the fan wheel spins freely. Update firmware if the issue persists. See Error 08 above.

Error 14 - Carbon Monoxide High

By defualt, after resetting power/fuse to heater, the CO alarm is disabled. Our CO sensor is extremely sensitive and will be set off by the faintest of fumes. This will cause audio alarm and shut the heater down. We recommend leaving this sensor disabled and running a 3rd party CO alarm in your space/rig.

Error 15 - LIN Communication failure

LIN Communications can often be ignored. If issue persists you may need to have your ECU and Thermostat serviced by our support team.
