This super-efficient DC-powered rooftop air conditioner is one of the smallest rooftop air conditioners ever built.  With the twin-cylinder rotor compressor, the Velit 2000R Mini delivers 7000 BTU of cooling capacity and draws as low as 20A (at 12V). The unit can be directly powered by most vehicle alternators without the need for a second battery. It also has a slim profile with only 6.5” of clearance and can easily fit in the standard 14x14 rooftop cutouts. 

This is a complete kit. For van installs or other uneven surfaces,  you need to purchase the sealant separately.  Sealant is not required for flat surface installs such as RV roofs.

Easy install.

I was a little nervous installing this on my 2001 Campulance. The installation was easy and went faster than I thought it would. The hardest part was cutting the hole in my roof. It’s been up for a few weeks now and no leaks. Have not had a chance to really try it out but it blows cold and it is really quiet in the eco mode. Can’t wait to get out and use this once I finish my build. My only complaint was the size of the plug at the unit. There wasn’t much room to tuck it up so the beauty ring can go on but I think it will work fine.

Installed on my semi truck, very quiet, cools very nice. I realize it wasn't made for what I am using it for but power plug in very poor spot. Otherwise very happy.

I can't yet speak to its functionality, but I have one somewhat serious issue with its design. There's a pair of thick wires that come out the back and there's no way to avoid tightly pressing them against the unit itself or the ceiling with the bracket.

FAQs

How do DC air conditioners work?

DC air conditioners can run directly from a battery or solar system without the need for an inverter. When an inverter converts DC to AC, approximately 10% of energy is lost in the process. As a result, DC units offer longer runtime compared to 110V units, making them an ideal choice for off-grid systems.

How does this compare to the Dometic RTX 2000?

Both use a twin-rotor compressor. Our unit is slightly more powerful, fits a standard 14x14 cutout, and is comparably quiet. RTX2000 has better finishing and timer features.

Can I install the AC if I already have a Maxxair fan?

Yes. You can use the existing hole but will need to run a new, thicker wiring harness included with the unit.

How much power does the 12V 2000R AC draw?

Approximately 30A on low and 50A on high.

How many amps on the highest setting?

Around 40–60A, depending on ambient temperature and usage.
