FAQs

Can I install an air conditioner myself?

While it is possible to install an RV air conditioner yourself, it is recommended that you hire a professional to ensure that it is installed correctly and safely.

Can I use my air conditioner while driving?

Yes, you can use your air conditioner while driving, but it is recommended that you only use it on generator power and not on battery power to avoid draining the battery.

What size air conditioner do I need?

The size of the air conditioner you need depends on the size of your camper and the climate in which you will be using it. A general rule of thumb is to have one 13,500 BTU air conditioner for every 350 square feet of living space.

Can I run my air conditioner on solar power?

Yes, it is possible to run an air conditioner on solar power, but it requires a large solar panel system and battery bank. It is also important to note that running an air conditioner on solar power may drain the battery quickly.

How often should I clean my air conditioner filters?

Air conditioner filters should be cleaned or replaced at least once a month during heavy use to maintain proper airflow and performance.

This new Bluetooth version ~ WOW!

We had some issues with our original unit that was purchased the end of July 2024. Constant ERR01 codes. Velit was very responsive to our plight, as the nights were down to upper 30's. After speaking with their engineer, we determined a new unit was needed. Received the new unit within a couple of weeks, got it switched out and BOOM, fabulous heat and bluetooth capabilities!! Unit is very quiet and starts every time, the first time. Been using it for 3 weeks in 5-35 degree nights and it's keeping the van at 62 (where we have it set). Couldn't be happier and so impressed with Velit's customer service!! Thanks, Velit!

It's nice

Very hot, it keeps my 11 windows pasanger van very warm. It got down to 28 degrees once and I felt very comfortable. It's not a small job if you need to drop your gas tank, witch is the hardest part of the setup.

Works as Advertised—Better than Webasto

We replaced a WebastoAT2000 with the VeLit heater. Because of the heat at lower elevations, the initial run was at 9,000 feet. In short, the VeLit works better—and quieter—at 9,000 feet than the Webasto did at sea level. We look forward to warmth at even higher altitudes. This heater is a game-changer.

good but should be better

The unit itself seems great, but the included hardware should be better. Should have stainless screws and nylon lock nuts, stainless rubber lined hangers, one more section of exhaust tubing. There should also be an included gasket for the mounting plate to floor surface, not just a gasket for the heater to mounting plate. Lastly the fuel pump is loud, much louder than my friends webasto...
For those who are installing, when cutting the stand pipe to length, make sure you have the fuel pump assembly compressed so you get the length correct, you'll know if it isn't because it makes re assembly very hard and probably why many people have a hard time re assembling. use a lock nut and washer on it so it can't work it's way loose. if you are installing under passenger seat, you will be using the mounting plate, so can make a healthy sized hole for the intake exhaust and the bolts attaching the heater to the plate. I installed mine on my transit towards the drivers seat not the passenger side door like most people do. It works but is tight and requires precises pre-bending the exhaust to get by the exhaust heatshield. I used some silicone sealant to create a seal on the mounting plate to the van floor. I routed the exhaust to a space just between the sliding door and passenger door. seems fine for exhaust and not getting sucked into the van. there is also a nice tight space to jam the intake up on the back side of the jack storage area. 1/4 fuel line is perfect size for protecting the included fuel line. I used a section of 3/8 fuel line from the fuel pump to the heater that can also protect the fuel pump wires. I have the fuel pump mounted an untapped m6 or m8 rivnut by the stairwell (get a cheap tapping kit so you can make use of all the untapped rivnuts on the van, also having a rivnut kit makes installing much better), this location makes for a nice pump spot and can keep a steady upward angle to the heater. I installed the fuel filter to the outside of the fiberglass fuel tank cover (wear a mask fiber gets everywhere), it makes a nice union spot so you can reinstall the fuel tank, then be able to connect the fuel line. good luck, takes forever your first go, but bet I could do it in an hour or so now.

Soot buildup, bluetooth not working

GAS Heater installed less than 2 weeks ago, at 4000ft elevation. Has been running on thermostat at 60f for about a week. Started erroring out with 002 code and then switched to 001 with lots of smoke when it tried to start.

Checked fuel lines and angles of everything, small bubbles but fuel is definitely moving. Noticed a LOT of carbon on the ground.

Disconnected muffler to see if there was a clog. No clog in exhaust pipe. Customer service has been responsive but indicated that this is a known issue. Their troubleshooting flow chart says to clean the combustion chamber which requires disconnecting intake, exhaust, fuel, replacing a gasket, disassembling unit, cleaning the chamber and reconnecting/assembling everything.

It seems that this is a known issue. with the most recent release. My suspicion is that the heater needs to be run on high rather than thermostat to possibly resolve the issues. It's a common rec with diesel heaters to run on high before shutoff.

I disconnected the muffler and was able the unit on high, and am working through more troubleshooting. Again this is with a heater that's only been installed for 2 weeks, though has seen lots of runtime. Hoping this can be resolved, I was pretty excited for this heater.

Also the device shows up in Bluetooth but isn't connecting to my phone or the app, but I purchased before the Bluetooth was listed as an option.
