FAQs

Can I install an RV air conditioner myself?

While it is possible to install an RV air conditioner yourself, it is recommended that you hire a professional to ensure that it is installed correctly and safely.

Can I use my RV air conditioner while driving?

Yes, you can use your RV air conditioner while driving, but it is recommended that you only use it on generator power and not on battery power to avoid draining the battery.

What size RV air conditioner do I need?

The size of the RV air conditioner you need depends on the size of your RV and the climate in which you will be using it. A general rule of thumb is to have one 13,500 BTU air conditioner for every 350 square feet of living space.

Can I run my RV air conditioner on solar power?

Yes, it is possible to run an RV air conditioner on solar power, but it requires a large solar panel system and battery bank. It is also important to note that running an air conditioner on solar power may drain the battery quickly.

How often should I clean my RV air conditioner filters?

Works as Advertised—Better than Webasto

We replaced a WebastoAT2000 with the VeLit heater. Because of the heat at lower elevations, the initial run was at 9,000 feet. In short, the VeLit works better—and quieter—at 9,000 feet than the Webasto did at sea level. We look forward to warmth at even higher altitudes. This heater is a game-changer.

Great product

Installed in my 2020 Promaster 3500 Ext. I live in CO. So installed the metal stand pipe in the gas tank. Stand pipe install was tricky. Primed the fuel pump to start and everything worked the first time. No leaks. Heated my van quickly.

It's nice

Very hot, it keeps my 11 windows pasanger van very warm. It got down to 28 degrees once and I felt very comfortable. It's not a small job if you need to drop your gas tank, witch is the hardest part of the setup.

Working pretty well

Heats fast. Install instructions were easy to follow. New controller works well. Bluetooth is a nice feature (I couldn’t find any instructions for the Bluetooth, but I was able to figure it out anyways). Only complaint is that the fuel pump has seemingly lost prime a couple times. I’ve always been able to fix it by restarting the unit. Might be due to my routing of the fuel line.

FORD TRANSIT INSTALL - I'm pleased!

Installed the heater a few weeks ago. So far am really pleased with my decision to go the Velit route. Customer service has been very good, promptly answering all my questions.

The install instructions aren't great, but there are a ton of videos showing how to install these types of heaters. I opted to drop the transit fuel tank and install the pickup tube supplied in the kit. Velit supplies all the bits and pieces required for the installation, and there were quite a few parts that I didn't use. I was actually surprised at how well the project went, it took less time and turned out better than I expected.
There was an issue with the blower motor and I was getting an error on initial startup. Customer service advised checking to see if the fan was spinning freely. It was not. The fan was pushed too far onto the shaft and was in contact with the motor housing. This is a common problem that happens in shipping, apparently from the package getting roughed around. Cust service sent a video on how to fix. It was a 2 minute job. After that, the unit has been working flawlessly.

Here's what I like: cost is less than the competitors; the bluetooth app is great; it has a built in carbon monoxide sensor in the thermostat; the bluetooth app will make burning adjustments for elevation; app has ability to start heater at a given time; it's working flawlessly so far.

What I like less: thermostat is clunky, doesn't make sense; thermostat only goes to 60degrees F (it's possible to send thermostat in to Velit and have new program flashed to go to 40F, but they charge for that and then there's the lost time).

I'll know a lot more after some serious use, but overall, I'm happy with this heater!
