FAQs

Can I install an air conditioner myself?

While it is possible to install an RV air conditioner yourself, it is recommended that you hire a professional to ensure that it is installed correctly and safely.

Can I use my air conditioner while driving?

Yes, you can use your air conditioner while driving, but it is recommended that you only use it on generator power and not on battery power to avoid draining the battery.

What size air conditioner do I need?

The size of the air conditioner you need depends on the size of your camper and the climate in which you will be using it. A general rule of thumb is to have one 13,500 BTU air conditioner for every 350 square feet of living space.

Can I run my air conditioner on solar power?

Yes, it is possible to run an air conditioner on solar power, but it requires a large solar panel system and battery bank. It is also important to note that running an air conditioner on solar power may drain the battery quickly.

How often should I clean my air conditioner filters?

Air conditioner filters should be cleaned or replaced at least once a month during heavy use to maintain proper airflow and performance.

This new Bluetooth version ~ WOW!

We had some issues with our original unit that was purchased the end of July 2024. Constant ERR01 codes. Velit was very responsive to our plight, as the nights were down to upper 30's. After speaking with their engineer, we determined a new unit was needed. Received the new unit within a couple of weeks, got it switched out and BOOM, fabulous heat and bluetooth capabilities!! Unit is very quiet and starts every time, the first time. Been using it for 3 weeks in 5-35 degree nights and it's keeping the van at 62 (where we have it set). Couldn't be happier and so impressed with Velit's customer service!! Thanks, Velit!

It's nice

Very hot, it keeps my 11 windows pasanger van very warm. It got down to 28 degrees once and I felt very comfortable. It's not a small job if you need to drop your gas tank, witch is the hardest part of the setup.

Works as Advertised—Better than Webasto

We replaced a WebastoAT2000 with the VeLit heater. Because of the heat at lower elevations, the initial run was at 9,000 feet. In short, the VeLit works better—and quieter—at 9,000 feet than the Webasto did at sea level. We look forward to warmth at even higher altitudes. This heater is a game-changer.

Velit Portable Gas Heater

So far it's been a bust. I really like this heater as it runs on gas, is small, light weight and has an easy primer and start up process. However, it has yet to really run properly, so I have not yet used it in the field. It starts up and produces heat normally, but after about 10 minutes the flame goes out in the burn chamber for some unknow reason and never comes back on. It seems starved of fuel???
When the heater was sent to me (purchased in through Velit Camping online in March of 2025), it did not include the Cigarette Plug (DC) adapter. I emailed Velit and one was sent to me right away. The magenetic duct hose would not attach securly to the heater unit, so I had makes some cuts to modify the heater unti and allow it to fit properly. The unti also leaked fuel and was missing a plug on the heater body. I spoke with a very helpfull Velit customer service rep and he provided my with a shipping label to retunr the unit for repairs including a new fuel pump. All repairs where performed and unit was returned to me promptly (Velit is a bit slow, but has always responded to me). Neverthenless, the repairs did not resolve the probelm of the heater not producing heat (kind of important for a heater). I'm being extremely patient in hopes of getting this unit working properly and will see what comes next from Velit to make this right. A new portable heater unit is probably warranted at this point.
My thoughts on Velit. They appear to be a Chinese company with an online store front in the US. The product and parts etc to build the heater are from China, not that this is bad, just not an American made product, but perhaps American assembled product is my guess? If you look at the "stores" in the US that sell Velit products, they all have a curiously similar webpage look and if you plug in the location address provided for any of these stores (Nomadic Supplies, Rack Up and Go, etc) into Google Earth, it's always a sketchy looking location in some industrial park of a given city. Be that as it may, Velit is legit, in that they do ship a product and they do have customer support. I hope to get my portable heater working properly at some point so I can use it and then report on how well it does or doesn;t do the job it is intended to do. For now my rating is one star and only that much because Velit has been responsive to me thus far. If I can ever get to the place where I have a fully functioning heater, I hope to bump that rating up to four or even five. More to come.

Great product and service

Got the heater hooked up and working. Shipping time was ok. Instructions were not so great. Thanks to you tube in making the install easier. The heater was easy to prime and get working. My van now has a good heater I’m hoping will last for years.
